Overview
Johnson City is expected to be the largest Li-ion battery system in commercial service on the US power grid when completed. Phase 1 (8MW) is currently online and supplies frequency regulation to the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) market. This new regulation capability will add to the responsiveness of the power system and help support thousands of MWs of wind development expected to occur in New York over the coming years.
The project is adjacent to an existing AES generating station.
